DORIE WAS ADOPTED NOVEMBER 25, 2000

Dorie, part of a litter of 5, was born on about August 12 to a mom that had been severely abused and then tossed out into the streets by her family when they moved.  Some caring neighbors housed the mom cat and her litter in a shed and cared for them until the kittens were old enough to leave their mom.  At that point, the kittens went to the vet for leukemia testing (all negative), deworming and their first shots, then into a foster home where they were freed of fleas and set up in a huge crate with an assortment of kitty accessories.  Initially they were all very frightened, never having been in a home before.  Not to mention the fact that there were other cats and dogs running around the house - a very overwhelming experience for these little guys who had never known life other than in a shed.

Within less than a week all kittens had made wonderful progress in acclimating to their new surroundings.  Dorie is a little more laid back than the others but she is always game for a romp with her sisters and brothers.  She can hold her own spinning cartwheels and playing leap frog!
