HAYLEY WAS ADOPTED APRIL 30, 2000!!!
Hayley will be embarking on a career as a therapy dog!  Congratulations to Hayley and her new family ...

Hayley is pictured above with her now mom and her new step sisters Samantha (a registered therapy dog) and Beth.
Hayley's First Night and Day (as told by Hayley's mom...)
Things are going great here.  Hayley and Samantha played until they couldn't stand anymore and fell asleep on the same cushion.  Hayley had a full day yesterday, two of my grandsons stopped by and she played with them.  The 6 year old is in love.  Last night each dog found her own spot, Beth on the bed with us, Samantha in her dog bed until 4am then she joins us, and Hayley on a cushion next to Sam's bed.

Today they were in the yard all day.  We checked them and all was going well.  They have an occasional sibling snit but they seem to be handling just fine.

Thanks for bringing her to us.  Its like she was born here.  I'm in the process of setting up vet visits for her and Sam but there is a 5 week wait.  I'm going to call tomorrow to see if we can do any better.

Please stay in touch and you are welcome to visit anytime you are in the area.  I was very impressed with your process and follow through.  If there is any way we can help, please let us know.

Thanks again,
Beth, Samantha, Cleo, Taffy and of course Hayley Domino says hi and thanks.

Another Update July 26, 2000 (3 Months Later...):
Just wanted to let you know that Hayley graduated from Puppy Kindergarten on Monday evening 7/24.  She won some prizes for games and exercises.

She will be starting beginners obedience on August 15th, get spayed on August 17th and will take her Canine Good Citizenship test on September 17th.

Along with that she is making monthly trips with Samantha and me to Mercy Manor nursing home as well as other side trips - not to mention the Sunday Flea Market.

So Hayley is a busy little girl and loved a lot - not only by us but by everyone who meets her.  My brother-in-law from Maryland was up earlier this week and he threatened to kidnap her and take her back down south but although she was quite taken with him (he's really a dog person) she
seemed to want to go with us when we left him.  So she's here to stay and we can't thank you enough for bringing her to us.

P.S.  Hayley is laying at my feet as I send you this.

Hayley's Story...
Hello!  My name is Hayley.  I am a little girl Labrador Retriever mix.  Kinda hard to tell what the "mix" part is just yet but I'm thinking there might have been a Boxer somewhere in my family tree.  I was born in January, 2000.  I have a stocky build and should grow up to be a fairly large girl.
I was very good for my foster mom when she gave me a bath.  Oh, I won't lie to you - I was scared to death and trying not to tremble but I couldn't help it.  But nonetheless, I stood perfectly still in the wash tub.  And you know, that bath was quite invigorating because afterwards I ran and ran and ran and I was dry in no time!  The pictures to the left are of me right after my bath.  Isn't the white fur on my chin, neck and chest just the brightest you ever saw?
I really don't have a clue about that housebreaking stuff yet.  I was in the dog pound for the last month and before that nobody ever taught me.  I am still a baby and can't figure it out on my own so I will need my new family to help me out.  My foster mom is getting me started and I'll try to remember as much as I can before I go to a new home.
I am not crazy about going into my crate but I do, and I might whimper for a few minutes, but that easy listening music that my foster mom leaves playing on the radio just lulls me to sleep in no time.  As long as there is someone to run and play with me periodically throughout the day, I will tire out quickly and need lots of naps.  I am a growing girl, you know!
So if you think you have what it takes to raise a sweet, adorable baby like me, I'd love to meet you!  Drop my foster mom a line so we can set something up.
