Toby's story:
Hi.  I am Tobias, but Toby to my friends.  The day I came into foster care, my new foster mom had picked me up from the vet after having been neutered.  She had to stop at the store to buy me a new litter box and little did she know that I was sitting out in the carrier in the car with my legs crossed.  Did I ever need that litter box!  We got home and she put me in the big crate and took her sweet time filling that box with kitty litter.  Let me tell you, the moment that litter box plunked into the crate, I was in it.  Ahhhhh....  I was proud I held it for so long!
After a few hours of rest we had a photo shoot.   Pardon me if I still look a little drunk in these pictures - after effects of anesthesia.  (Applies to first 3 pictures only - after that I am 100% alert!)  But WOW!  I like that cat tree I was posing in.  We will have to revisit that when I am fully recuperated.  Even though I had a terribly stressful day, I just purred and rubbed every time my foster mom would come over to me.  Do you know that I even purr while eating?  It's called being very coordinated - sort of like chewing gum and walking at the same time.
After a couple of days I was introduced to the resident cats.  Murphy, the big calico hissed at me.  I hissed back.  So take that!  Claude, the HUGE black cat was sleeping on the bed.  I pulled a sneak attack.  Jumped up on to the bed, ran over to him, and started washing his face.  I think I left him speechless!  We have been best buddies ever since.  My foster mom says not to take Murphy (Ms. Attitude) personally - she'll get over it.
Oh yes, I must tell you how I came by the name of Toby.  My foster mom had a very wonderful and very friendly cat many, many years ago.  He was orange just like me and had a friendly and trusting personality like I do.  He was such a cool cat that even people who didn't like cats liked him.  By being named in his honor, I have some big paw prints to fill but I think I am up to the challenge!
