PEPPER WAS ADOPTED APRIL 21, 2000!!!
Congratulations to Pepper and her new mom...
Pepper's First Hour In Her New Home (as told by her new mom)...
I'm already giving you an update.  Pepper is resting quietly under our bed.  I've separated her from the other cat because he would get really close to her under the bed and she was hissing at him.  She ate some food and seems calmer.  I love Pepper, she's adorable.  I think we are going to be just fine.
Pepper's First Night...
We had a good night here.  Plato slept in the bedroom with us because that's what he's used to.  I tried to put Pepper in the bathroom, but she kept clawing at the door.  I felt bad, so let her roam the rest of the apartment.  She ate quite a bit around 1:30am.  She loves to rub her head right up against me.  What a different personality from Plato.  She slept under the coach and is a little weary of coming out this morning.  Plato knows something is going on, but he can't figure out what.  Maybe they'll bond a little today.  That's the update for now.
Pepper's Second Day...
PROGRESS!!!  Pepper came directly up to me today and jumped in my lap (what a treat).  She slept there for 20 minutes.  As I am writing this, Plato and Pepper are fooling around with a paper bag in the kitchen. Pepper's not doing much, but she's definitely interested, and no hissing!!  Truly a great day!!!
Pepper's Story...
Pepper was turned in to the Linden Animal Shelter by her previous owner.  Must have been a people problem because we just can't imagine that Pepper could have possibly done anything so bad to warrant being kicked out of her home.
Pepper is about 6 months old and all she wants to do is rub and purr.  She is a very happy girl who loves everyone.  Pepper is very thin but is eating well in foster care and should fill out a little.
When Pepper first came in to foster care she was transported to the vet along with another cat and a dog.  There wasn't enough room in the car for the dog and 2 cat carriers so Pepper's carrier had to be put in the trunk!  (Not to worry - the car is a hatchback so it's not really a trunk!)  Just imagine the horror!  But she was a trooper about it and never stopped purring, even when the vet gave her shots and drew blood for Leukemia and Aids testing (which were both negative).  Then Pepper got to her foster home (made the other cat ride in the trunk on the way home) only to be put into temporary holding quarters (the bathroom) for an entire day.   She was STILL purring.  At long last, she was integrated with the other cats in the household.  A little hissing and spitting the first day but no physical contact and after 24 hours, Pepper had settled in fine with the others.
If you would like to meet Pepper, please contact her foster mom by clicking on <This link's target cannot be found> .  You can also fill out the <This link's target cannot be found> and e-mail it.
