HANNAH WAS ADOPTED JUNE 19, 2000!
CONGRATULATIONS TO HANNAH AND HER NEW FAMILY!

Hannah's Story:
They originally had me listed as a collie mix but nobody could see that in me so a couple of volunteers searched breeds on the Internet and the closest thing they could come up with for me was a Belgian Sheepdog mix (Belgian Groenendael).  Here is a picture of one.  Now keep in mind that I am a mix.  OK, so what do you think?
See any similarities?  Again, keeping in mind the mix factor...  Or if you have any other suggestions, we are listening!  (By the way, I do have 2 ears - one up and one down - sort of adds a jaunty look, don't you think?)
This is a Belgian Groenendael mix we found on the Internet - I think we are on to something here!

Well, I was a stray and found myself picked up and deposited in the Linden Animal Shelter.  I was pretty knotted and matted from not having been brushed for a long time.  I was taken into foster care and immediately given a refreshing bath.  (I really wasn't crazy about the actual bathing part but did I feel good when it was all over with - I zoomed around the yard for a few minutes for that natural air dried look...)  Then all of my knots were cut out and my foster mom figured, oh, what the heck, let's do an overall trim job while we are at it.   I must say, I look pretty gorgeous!  One peculiar thing that was noticed:  I have 2 dew claws on each hind leg.  They are really loose and wobbly too and they might get hung up on something and get ripped off - YOW!  So when I get spayed, they are going to have those dew claws removed at the same time.

I went to the vet and got my shots.  I was a big crybaby about it - just yelped and carried on.  The vet had to rub my side until I quit crying.  Well, I can't help it, it hurt!  I tested negative for heartworm and am now taking Interceptor.  The vet said that I was just at the end of being in heat so I have to wait a couple of weeks to get spayed and have those dew claws removed.  That appointment is scheduled for June 14.  I was totally healthy, no worms or other yucky stuff.

And my foster mom said I should tell you what a good girl I have been about crate training.  The first couple of days I would cry a little but when I'd hear my foster mom's voice, I'd settle down.  Now I go right into my crate and not a peep out of me until my foster mom comes to let me out.  I have met the other dogs in the family and was a little leery of them at first but now we all get along fabulously.  I had many, many accidents in the basement the first couple of days but that could have been because of being in heat too.  As of my 4th day in foster care, I have not had a single accident!  Maybe being a little nervous about being in a new place had something to do with it, too.
